  • Blue Swimming Crab Agreement Signed

Tambuyog Development Center has been organizing the small-scale fishers of Bantayan Island for almost a decade now and is currently capacitating the blue swimming crabbers, crabmeat pickers and other supply chain actors for the sustainable management of blue swimming crab (BSC) in the island. A partnership agreement was forged and signed several weeks ago with the private sector, to work together for Fisheries Improvement Projects and craft the local ordinance and the BSC management plan.

The Philippines is the 4th largest producer of blue swimming crab and the second largest exporter of this species to the US, valued at 93 million US dollars in 2022.
